Introducing the Executive team
Daniel Cragg
Chairperson
Daniel is a veterinarian and established the VetSouth clinic in Balclutha with his wife Sarah after moving to the district. His professional experience, involvement in the local business community and long-standing service as a volunteer firefighter give him a strong connection to both the economic and community life of Clutha.
Daniel is committed to supporting the district's continued growth and ensuring Clutha remains a great place for people, families and businesses to build their future.
Anna Benny
Deputy Chairperson
Anna brings experience across the food and primary sectors, along with a strong interest in rural leadership and governance. She lives on a dairy farm in Clydevale and works independently across agriculture, local government and food technology.
A graduate of the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme, Anna also brings broad community involvement and a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Clutha's rural communities and businesses.
Josh Hurring
Executive Member
Josh grew up near Balclutha and holds a Commerce degree in Business Management from the University of Otago. He works within the family forestry business, Mike Hurring Logging, where his experience spans business operations, health and safety and technology-based workforce training.
His background provides the Board with a practical perspective on forestry, business operations, workforce development and the opportunities facing younger people building careers and businesses within the district.
Hamish Anderson
Executive Member
Hamish is a dairy farmer with extensive local government and governance experience, including 15 years as a Clutha District Councillor, nine as Deputy Mayor.
His governance experience spans the primary sector, infrastructure, transport, healthcare and education, including leadership roles with Livestock Improvement Corporation, the Lower Clutha drainage and flood protection liaison group, Telford Dairy Farm and Clutha Health First. He brings significant knowledge of the district, its industries and the wider regional environment to the Board.
Noelene Scott
Executive Member
Noelene is Manager of the Cross Recreation Centre in Balclutha, where she leads the team responsible for delivering an important community recreation facility.
She also brings extensive experience in sport, programme delivery and community participation, including six years delivering Netball New Zealand's CoachForce programme across Otago and Southland. Her background provides a strong community and people-focused perspective to the Board.
Nicole Edwards
Executive Member
Nicole is a Chartered Accountant with Shand Thomson and has strong experience working with businesses across the district. Born and raised in Balclutha, she combines professional financial expertise with an understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing local businesses.
She has a particular interest in technology and systems for small businesses, business establishment and supporting initiatives that contribute positively to the Clutha District.
