The Clutha District Training and Development Awards will return in November 2026.

Recognise Your Team
Training takes commitmen, from the person completing the qualification and from the employer supporting them along the way.
The Awards provide Clutha employers with an opportunity to recognise employees who have completed formal training or qualifications, celebrate their achievement with colleagues and whānau, and acknowledge the contribution workplace training makes to both their business and the wider district.
From apprenticeships and trade qualifications to professional development and advanced technical training, the Awards reflect the diversity of learning taking place across Clutha's workplaces and across all stages of working life. Previous Awards have recognised training across industries including manufacturing, trades, retail, tourism and hospitality, healthcare, engineering, and professional and technical services.
Why Get Involved?
Recognising the achievements of your people is an opportunity to celebrate their commitment while also demonstrating the value your business places on developing its workforce.
Taking part in the Awards allows you to:
- recognise the achievements of employees who have invested in developing their skills
- celebrate their success with colleagues, family and supporters
- acknowledge your business's commitment to employee training and development
- promote the value of apprenticeships and workplace training
- join other employers from across the district in celebrating local training success.
In 2025, 42 trainees from 23 businesses were recognised, with 15 training organisations represented and more than 180 people attending the Awards evening.
The Awards have a long history in the Clutha District and have evolved from earlier apprentice and training recognition events. Since the establishment of Clutha Development in 2012, the district-wide Awards have continued in various forms, reflecting an ongoing commitment to recognising workplace learning and development.
The Awards bring together people from a wide range of industries and occupations, recognising the employees developing their skills and the businesses supporting them to do so.
