Employer and Education Partnerships

Connecting employers with the next generation of Clutha's workforce.

Strong connections between employers, schools and young people help build awareness of the careers available in Clutha and create clearer pathways from education into employment.

Clutha Development works with employers, schools, training providers and other partners to strengthen these connections and create opportunities for young people to learn about local industries, workplaces and career pathways.

Connect with Young People

For employers, engaging with young people is an opportunity to build awareness of your industry and the range of roles within it, including careers they may not otherwise know exist.

We can help connect employers with opportunities to engage with students and schools through activities such as:

  • workplace visits and industry experiences
  • careers events and expos
  • employer presentations and industry talks
  • opportunities for students to learn about different occupations and career pathways
  • connections with schools, training providers and workforce initiatives.

You don't need to have a specific vacancy available. Often the value is simply giving young people a better understanding of your workplace, your industry and the skills and pathways that could lead to a future career.

Helping young people explore local career opportunities

Career Compass connects secondary school students with employers and industries across the Clutha District, giving young people the opportunity to learn more about the range of careers available locally.

Through direct engagement with workplaces and employers, students can gain a better understanding of different roles, the skills and qualifications they require, and the pathways that can take them from school into further training or employment.

For employers, Career Compass is an opportunity to showcase your industry, share the experiences of your people and help build awareness of future career opportunities.

Careers Expo

Clutha Development also works with schools, employers and partners to provide opportunities for young people to connect directly with businesses, industries and training organisations through local careers events.

These events give employers the chance to talk with students about their industry, demonstrate the variety of roles available and provide practical information about training, qualifications and pathways into employment.

Why Get Involved?

Building connections with young people isn't only about filling today's vacancies. It can help develop the workforce your business and industry will need in the future.

By engaging with schools and students, employers can help:

  • increase awareness of local career opportunities
  • challenge outdated perceptions about particular industries or occupations
  • give young people a clearer understanding of the skills employers are looking for
  • demonstrate pathways from school into employment, apprenticeships and further training
  • encourage more young people to consider building their careers in the Clutha District.

Whether you'd like to host students in your workplace, participate in a careers event, talk to young people about your industry or explore another way of connecting with local schools, we'd be happy to hear from you.

Clutha Development can help identify suitable opportunities and connect you with the right people.
