Building Control Officer

Do you have an eye for detail and a passion for ensuring buildings are safe, compliant and built to last?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Building Control Officer to join our Building Control Team to ensure building work in the Clutha District meets legislative requirements.

In this role, you will:

·         Process building consent applications, perform inspections and issue Code Compliance Certificates.

·         Support the public and local community in their compliance with legislation, Council bylaws and the NZ Building Code.

·         Review and assess non-compliant building work.

·         Assist and liaise with customer concerns.

·         Build great relationships across Council, community stakeholders and building professionals.

What we’re are looking for:

·         Proven experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of the building consent process

·         Confidence in assessing building consent applications and reviewing plans for compliance

·         Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers and stakeholders

·         Excellent attention to detail and committed to providing professional advice
